Aargh, so sorry about that! There’s likely an issue with the plugin’s registering of new permalinks. A simple visit to Settings > Permalinks should solve your second problem.
As to notes not showing on the homepage, that is “somewhat” intentional. (I mean, IndieBlocks is obviously still built around my personal use case.) While it is possible to include them, that would currently require some custom PHP code.
The next version of the plugin, however, will already make it possible to include notes into your main RSS feed; I may extend that to the homepage.
