Regex magic? Why? Because flexibility. I don’t want to automatically tack a “Reply” post format or kind onto a blog entry that happens to have a link in it with a `class="u-in-reply-to"`. As said, I could write a _book_ with a few dozen such links in it and it would look nothing like a Twitter reply, so I shouldn’t treat it like one. (What I _could_ do, is _set_ yet another custom field or category or something when a “reply-like reply” is _first published_.)
