Ah, right! The Webmention plugin for WordPress defines a number of “comment types” (like, repost, etc.), which get stored in the comment_type field. Tbh, I always thought it labeled all of them as “just” webmention.

IndieBlocks treats all mentions as “just comments” but stores type info in a custom field, which makes querying a bit of a pain. Except, I … have always displayed them as just comments, see? Up until now, that is, with the new Facepile block.

    My God, I’ve created a monster.
    The thing is, regular comments get displayed quite consistently in WP’s admin interface. Never felt quite so lucky with non-standard comment types.
    Either way, this makes querying Webmention (the plugin, I mean) likes, bookmarks, and reposts fairly easy, and I should be able to make the Facepile block work with them.
