So if I add a language-plaintext class to a Code block’s code element, to prevent highlight.js from highlighting it, WordPress’ block editor gives me the dreaded “unexpected or invalid content.” Only way out is to convert it to a Custom HTML block (which in this case is kind of okay).

    I was hoping … I’ve definitely seen other blocks, or perhaps inline elements, where I saw an “unrecognized attribute” or similar thingy, which you could then either keep or clear, but not an actual error.

    Would be great if we could eventually add microformats just about anywhere, without them being stripped by the editor or requiring things like custom blocks. (I’d totally use such functionality, *next to* my “own” IndieBlocks. Like when I wanted “inline” microformats in a random bit of text.)
